An extended wildfire practice held at the Saturna School, focusing on the use of sprinklers for structure protection. The volunteers and officers of Saturna Fire have always been aware of the potential danger of wildfire on the island so they are trained and certified to the Provincial wildfire fighting standard and conduct exercises during the summer to enhance skills and procedures. Halloween Fireworks – 2015
Each Halloween the evening fireworks are a much anticipated event. They are presented by the Saturna Island Volunteer Firefighters Association and funded from their twice a year pig barbecues. The great thing about it is that the firefighters get as much enjoyment putting on the show as the spectators do watching the multicoloured flashes and streaks and loud bangs. These photos are from 2015. Each year the selection is slightly different as our pyrotechnician, Darryl Davies, looks over what is new on the market to make the show more spectacular.
