Volunteer Firefighters

The Saturna Volunteer Firefighters Association recruits, trains and deploys volunteer firefighters to meet the service requirements on Saturna Island. They also advise the Saturna Island Fire Protection Society on priority of funding, policies and strategic operational requirements.

The Firefighters Association practices on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Fire Hall .

Community Involvement

The Fire Department hosts, and is involved with, various community events and fire prevention outreach programs.

  • On Halloween night, the Fire Department hosts an evening bonfire, hot dog roast and fireworks display for the kids and families on Saturna at the Saturna Island Recreation & Cultural Centre.
  • Annual fundraisers include two pig barbecues, held in the spring and fall at the Saturna Island Recreation & Cultural Centre, and the hosting of the popular “dunk tank” at the Lamb Barbecue on July 1 of each year.
